International Council for Small Business (ICSB), founded in 1955, is a global network to promote the development of knowledge in small business and entrepreneurship. Peter Yip, APPM President, as the Chief Representative of IcSMEhk attended ICSB working sessions at the United Nations on May 10 and 12, 2018. Over 400 Small Business policy makers, Academic leaders, entrepreneurs, and small business owners from 5 continents attended the ICSB Forum.

 

May 10 Working Session was titled “Creating Entrepreneurship Ecosystems to Support SMEs and UN Sustainable Development Goals. “ The essential items discussed were around four major areas:

  1. “The Role of Entrepreneurship Education and Research in Promoting, Creativity, Innovation and Economic Development in Disruptive Environment”
  2. “Leading Through Financial Inclusion-The Global Impact of Women Business Owners”
  3. “Humane Entrepreneurship – Creating Quality Jobs to Accomplish the SDGs”
  4. “The Future of Work and Economic Growth”

 

May 12 ICSB Forum was titled “CREATING A SHARED FUTURE FOR ENTREPRENEURS AND MICRO-, SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS”

The global outlook has changed dramatically for entrepreneurs, start-ups, Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) worldwide. They now are the central economic topic for many governments around the world.

At the end of the forum, APPM President Peter Yip stated that there is a plan to integrate global SMEs with entrepreneurs in China to create a high-value SME platform to support the sustainable development of SMEs.
